About St Paul's
St Paul's Church is only 170 years old. In the early nineteenth century the area around Knowbury and Clee Hill saw a huge influx of people who came from South Wales and the Black Country to work in the quarries and coal mines that once dominated the landscape. The neighbouring parishes of Caynham and Bitterley were thought to be too far away for these new residents to go to church in, so it was decided that a new church should be built for them in Knowbury, and St Paul's was constructed in 1838-9.
Since then the area has seen huge changes. Most of the industry has now gone, and Clee Hill has its own parish church. Nevertheless, we at St Paul's are determined to keep the flame of faith alive by proclaiming God's love for all people. Nowadays Knowbury is part of the Ludlow Team Ministry, which includes 17 churches and 14 parishes. Our Team Vicar, Fr Richard, looks after six of these parishes and he lives at Ashford Carbonell. Follow the link above to find his page on the website.
We do hope you will enjoy finding out all about us here. Why not come along to one of our services or social events - you will be guaranteed a warm welcome.
Our Vision
We would like our church to be a place where

- New disciples of Jesus Christ can be made
- Pastoral care is offered to all
- We look outwards to the community and the world
