Restoration Apeal Progress

I was chatting to a slightly older and unquestionably wiser friend the other day....about the weather of course, what else are the English reputed to talk about....and our new roof figured in the converstion. Perversely, we haven`t needed too much protection from the elements so far this winter which I suppose is a blessing so far, but now we may be praying for rain and doing rain-dance rituals...(is there a potential for fund-raising in this I ask myself......) although wizardry is probably not the sort of thing that we should be thinking about on a church website. Whatever, the dykes will not be filled with February rain, nor yet March rain we are told, so get your water containers ready. Last week we held our annual quiz evening which was very successful. 58 people came along to be quizzed by Father Richard who set us brain stretching questions. Judith and Thyrle did lots of sums ,the girls came up with a tasty supper , Kevin was kept pretty busy at the bar and Wendy and Jean did all the washing up.....so you see , angels do exist.. Thanks to all the prize donors.....always great fun, a raffle..... It occurs to me that raffle prizes could well be tagged to see not only how far they travel but how many owners they have had........perhaps we could have raffle prize mile vouchers too. Well, you`re only as good as your next idea in fund-raising we are told. The really, really good part of the evening was counting the proceeds, which amounted to approx. £465 00 which was a splendid result. Very many thanks to all who were involved and indeed all who supported the event. We hope everyone had a jolly good evening. |
